Line graph - IELTS - UNEMPLOYED



The line graph demonstrates the  proportion of unemployed young adults among 16 to 24 year olds and overall unemployment figures of England in the period from 1993 to 2012. A quick glance at the graph reveals that the figures of  unemployed people underwent a dramatic fluctuation over the years.
To illustrate, After decreasing strongly to about 15% for the first 6 years, the percentage of unemployed young adults aged 16-24 in London increased slightly to 20% for the next 6 years. Then, it soared from about 20% to the highest point of 25% in 2012. Similarly , the amount of unemployed young man aged 16-24 in rest of England experienced a strong decline to under 12% for the first 10 years , before an upward trend to a peak of above 20% in the final years. By contrast , the overall proportion of adults without jobs in London which fell to about 6% after one decade climbed sharply to 9% in the following years. However , by comparison , the overall rate of people without jobs in rest of England witnessed a fluctuation between 10% and 4% for the first 11 years, followed by a dramatic rise to a zenith of 8% in 2012.
Strikingly, Unemployment rates for both groups of adults were consistently higher in London than in the rest of England.
