The line graph
illustrates the percentage of population
aged 65 and over in three different
countries from 1940 to 2040 . A quick glance at the reveals that Japan , Sweden and the US witnessed an upward
trend with Japan always being lower than
the rest ones in the rate of population aged 65 and over in most periods.
To specify , After a
slight decline from 5% in 1940 to about 3% in 1982 , the proportion of of
residents in the age over 65 in Japan rockets from 4% in 1983 to a peak of 27 % in 2040.
By comparison, The
ratio of population aged 65 and over
in the US experienced a significant rise
to the highest point of 23% in 2040 ,
after a fluctuation between 9 % and 14 % for the first 80 years.
Similarly , There was
an upward fluctuation from the lowest
point of approximately 7% in 1940 to a
zenith of around 25% in 2040 , which is clearly seen in Sweden.
An interesting feature
is that although Japan is lower than the other countries in the proportion of aged 65 and over in most
periods , its figure surpasses the rest ones by 1,2 times in the final year.
